Upon request research faculty can get a complete virtual server supplied with required memory, SAN storage and Operating System (Linux Windows Server). The network connects all computers (both desktop office computers and laptop computers at individual student desks and lab benches), all printers and special devices. The network consists of 400 high speed switches, 50 miles of network, 15,000 wired ports and over 1,000 wireless access points. All certified users have an ID and password to access the Digital Library databases, the World Wide Web, email, and a variety of statistical, database, spreadsheet, graphics, and word processing programs. All are maintained and coordinated by Fordham IT, which manages the campus data communication network and provides internet access to the entire Fordham community through 4 different Gigabit links from three separate ISPs.įordham IT supports three campuses and 14 satellite locations, maintains 269 servers and 384 virtual servers (36 TBs of storage monthly). The university’s network spans all campus locations with high-speed dedicate links. Fordham University’s computer resources are located throughout all three main campuses of the University. These extensive computer resources are, of course, available to all university faculty.
